In the trenches

I love trench coats. They're so classic and look good with just about anything, such as my new shoes! I've been looking everywhere for the right leopard print loafers only to find that what I've been wanting all along were python print loafers.


Favorite skirt, favorite girl.


Meet my twin sister, my source of inspiration, support and clothing (In all fairness, she steals my clothes too). We didn't coordinate outfits on purpose, that's just the residual effect of being forced to wear the same things for many years.

I don't know why I look so emo in all these pictures. I actually had a lovely time with my sister that day wandering the tiny streets of rome, having wine at trendy hipster joints and of course, shopping.


Pretending to be a skirt

Obviously I'm not the one pretending to be a skirt, I don't even know what that would look like... My yellow dress is the one masquerading as a skirt. I like to wear little summer dresses in cold weather by throwing a giant sweater over it.
Oh, and meet my blackbird, a twin lens reflex camera. I'll post the pictures I took with it when I get the film developed.

I was in Rome! I was there for a week visiting my sister and my boyfriend who are there  right now leading much cooler lives than me. I spent the week eating the most amazing food, drinking cappuccino that made my knees tremble, admiring the gorgeous scenery and trying to taste every flavor of gelato Rome had to offer me. Most of these photos are actually my sister's. I was too busy stuffing my face to take pictures, but there are more photos coming!


Baked eggs 2.0

Baked eggs just got better! This is inspired by the brunch special I had at Le Cartet (if you live in montreal and have not gone to this place, you should. Over-priced hipster joint with great food, and option of getting a mimosa with your breakfast. My favorite) Unfortunately I was feeling horrendously ill when I went, so I don't remember exactly what I ate, but I think this was close.

You will need
2 eggs
2 slices of eggplant
1/2 red pepper
1/2 small onion
4 tbsp cream
2 tbsp pesto
2 tbsp goat cheese
salt and pepper to taste

Place a slice of eggplant in each ramekin. Before Roasting or pan frying your eggplant, Slice the eggplant into 1.5 cm thick slice, sprinkle with salt. Place the slices on a colander, and put a plate or bowl on top of the slices for 30 mins to 1 hr then rinse and pat dry. This is called "purging" it removes the bitter flavour and makes the eggplant less spongy which means it will absorb less oil. I usually do this before so that I'm not waiting 1 hour for my eggplant to purge before I can eat.

 Crack an egg into each, and add cream

Caramelize the onions. To caramelize, cook the onions on low- medium heat for a long time. Fry or roast the red peppers. Add to the ramekin.

Add 1 tbsp goat cheese and 1 tbsp pesto. Bake in the oven for 10 mins at 400 degrees, or until the cream starts to boil.

Serve with Toast... and bacon.



Need scribbles

I absolutely NEED one of these dresses from Russian designer and style icon Vika Gaszinskaya's S/S 2012 collection, but will never own one due to the unfortunate state of poverty that I live in. So for now, I will just day dream about them and soon come up with a DIY project that involves scribbles.

DIY Day of dead skull

Here is my DIY project inspired by the recent popularity of the Day of the dead skeletons. It was a pleasant, albeit unconventional, Saturday morning activity, made entirely out of felt.
